I love seeing good people get recognized for their hard work and when it’s people I know and respect it’s even more satisfying.
Mischel Kwon, The Chief IT Security Technologist for the U.S. Department of Justice (at least for another week). For those of you that don’t know Mischel she is/was pretty much the lead for everything information security related at DOJ. One of her dozen+ roles is the executive lead for DOJ Justice Security Operations Center.
Earlier this month DHS US-CERT acknowledged that Mischel would be the new Director for US-CERT.
Network World Reference and SC Magazine Reference
In my opinion US-CERT is getting a diamond with Mischel. I hope they take good care of her over there, she’ll bring great leadership and forward progress to an already outstanding team!
But that isn’t all…
Last night I was fortunate enough to attend the Information Security Executive Award Ceremony in Washington DC.
Mischel accepted the Information Security Executive Mid-Atlantic People’s Choice Award 2008. In 2006 she took home the same organization’s Rising Star Award. (Personal note to the JSOC Team - last night she acknowledged you all first and foremost for her success - Good Job to all!).
I’ve been lucky enough to work alongside Mischel and experience first-hand her leadership, expertise and mentorship.
Mischel is as passionate about Information Security as she is about her team - People become fiercely loyal to her and to her vision. Just working alongside her pushes you to work harder and smarter.
Mischel - Congratulations and Good Luck at US-CERT!!!
