Shameless self-promotion follows:  Rocky DeStefano is presenting on SIM at the 2009 US Department of Justice Cyber Security Conference in Washington DC on 14 Jan 2009.

In this presentation, I’ll cover some of the basic advantages of a fully operational SIM in an enterprise environment and try and look forward as SIM and related technologies begin to mature. 

Given the audience we’ll focus on ArcSight ESM use cases and show how we have moved along in our maturity model with ArcSight over the years, and how much further we’re going to take it at DOJ.  I’d love to do one of these larger audience presentations with a live demo (oh well maybe later in the year).

The conference was very well attended (over 500).  I was able to attend presentations by Kevin Mandia, Mischel Kwon, Amit Yoran and a great panel discussion between IBM-ISS (Scott Paisley), Northrop Grumman Chief Security Architect (Dennis Mccallam) and a Representative from DOJ EOUSA.  I want to thank all of those at DOJ who put this together and invited me!

My SIM presentation seemed to be well received.  I’ve started judging my presentations by job offers afterward if the count is more than 2 than the presentation was successful  
It was nice to get out in front of people and let them know that there can be value in Log Management and SIM - if they do it right.
